I found this 4" brass (I think) lock today at an old bottle dump I've been searching for a couple of weeks now. Most of the bottles and jars are from the late 1920's or early 1930's, but I'm not sure if it's from that era or possibly earlier than that.

But my big question is what was it used for? I can't imagine what it would attach to. Almost looks like it goes to a pirate chest! LOL!

Any help is always appreciated. I'm going to try and clean up the innards better tomorrow and try to get it to function correctly.

Looks like a locking latch off of an old icebox
