found an unkown button

i found this button about 9" down on a property thats dated as early as 1826. you really cant tell from the pic but there is an etching going all the way around the button. the clasp on the back is broke. any help would be appreciated. hh all

you've got yourself an early site there!
these were popular late 1700's-early 1800's,
so your 1826 date sounds about right.
get back out there...
