🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Help identifying button.

Found this button today on a site where I've found capped bust coins and a war of 1812 cannon button. Any ideas
on date would be appreciated. These pics are edgy but this is the way it looks in person.

Shank says old….but I can’t see what’s on the eagles breast. Is there a letter? Can you take some better focused pics of both front and back?

Can’t tell very well, but brass or pewter?

Looking at the shank, I’m saying you’re off by 50-75 yrs

I’m probably wrong though

Hard to know for sure with those pics but I'm guessing something like this:

Mid 19th C Rifleman button.

Better photos are a MUST. The shank may look odd because its base is submerged in dirt-concretion. I've seen many 2-piece brass buttons whose brass-wire shank is soldered into a bowl-shaped depression. PERHAPS in this case, the bowl is still full of dirt-concretion -- which makes the shank look weird. So, please clean the entire back thoroughly.

Better photos, including a side-view, could reveal whether or not this button is a 2-piece type, or not. I can't say for sure about that with these photos.
