Found At Colonial Site

This strange iron object was found at a site where we located a King George II halfpenny or farthing and an early flintlock musket buttstock. It is shown with the lighter for a size comparison. Made of iron, slightly curved with a ring and rod, maybe some type of tool, any suggestions are appreciated.
