Not sure what this is. It is kinda heavy and no rust. Copper or brass maybe and still not sure what it is. That is a US quarter in the pics. Found at a old homesite dating back early 1800s. Any ideas?

I think you found a brass rein guide.looks like it could fit that time period.nice find!

Thanks guys! Anyway to tell how old it is? I know there was a house dating back to early 1800s there but don't want to use just that factor in dating since the land has been used up until late 1980s. I know NOTHING about horse tack. Thanks again. You all ROCK!

I'm no expert, but I'd say a very wide age range. Probably no way to nail it down. Cool find[emoji106]
