Tell me about the first pix! It looks like what I know as "chicken of the woods" or sulfur shelf but they are normally found Aug-Oct !
Thanks,

Wade

Very nice! I always enjoyed picking chanterelles with my uncle when we were having a slow day hunting grouse. Plus they are delicious!

I enjoy calling blacks by their real name, "Death Horns"! You tell someone that and they won't eat them, makes more for me. That is one of the most delicious mushroom I can find here in Piedmont NC. Usually will be under beech trees, or at least there has always been a beech tree close by when I find them.

Neat! Thanks for sharing...

Hmm not familiar with those only have done Morels out here and the others. Looks nice tho!

Wade, yup chick of the woods. This is the time I usually find them. Funny how such little distance can make such a difference in the growth of shrooms.
I try for morels, but the place I use to find them got hit by the inland hurricane we had 4 yrs ago & it really changed the habitat. I haven't found any there since. Doesn't stop me from looking though. I'm waiting for another rain to see what else pops up. & yes "death horns" scared me too!
