Over the weekend, my 6 year old son found several coins and washers on a beach at Lake Mead. About 300. The dates are 1960's and 70's. Looks like someone dumped a whole load of coins and washers, even casino dollar coins in the lake. The coins were mostly penny coins from Australia, Canada, and Mexico with a few U.S. pennies thrown in. Just wondering how the heck they ended up there? Buried deep in the muck?

with that assortment either a robbery and the persons involved did not want those
coins...

or someone who got tired of the junky coins and threw them away...

Maybe the owner realized it might be too much of a hassle to put those minimum valued 'foreign' coins back into circulation--so just dumped them.

Lake mead is a National recreation area,so be careful, they can throw you in jail for just picking stuff up,ridiculous huh? Kane 23

Just to back up kane23, if you get caught there, they can take your car, metal detector & whatever else ya got with ya at the time, be careful... Chris

SINCE I WORKED IN A FEW CASINOS AND I DO KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT OLD SLOT MACHINES AND SINCE IT IS A GAMBLING MECA MAYBE SOME ONE EMPTIED OUT THE BOTTOM OF A OLD SLOT MACHINE SINCE THESE ARE THE ITEMS THE OLDER MACHINES WOULD REJECT BUT IT MAKES NO SENCE TO DISREGARD THE PENNIES UNLESS SOMEONE JUST DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THEM! COULD BE! REGARDS CHRIS IN OKC!
