Pardon me for my confusion... But how did you conclude that this was cast iron? To me, although it's tough to see the bottom, it sure looks like pottery to me. How heavy is it?

Its cast iron under it. My mom has it and when she was washing it she thought there was metal inside. The ebay discussion board posted a link to a few of the artists vases'
