Found jewelry today

[No gold in NY]

Digging in my favorite park today. Other than clad, found this earring. It is marked SU925IN. I am not familiar with this mark. Anyone have experience in these matters? Thanks for any help.

Thanks RTR. I am quite familiar with the 925 mark. I have a pile of it in a cigar box. It is the lettering and the gold color I am wondering about.

RTR, In the link you sent, I checked the "SU" prefix of my piece. Nothing there either. I neglected to add in my post that the hoop is a hollow tube. Looks like it was on a sidewalk and got scuffed. Under the 40X loope and my untrained eye the base metal looks like silver. The glare from the "gold" kept me from getting a good look.

RTR, if you ever check back, thanks for your help. I Googled the designation of SU925IN and got this...

It is marked SU925IN, which for those of us who are unschooled in metallurgy, it means that it is 92.5% silver and the other 7.5% is other metals to harden the silver.

So apparently it is not even gold plated.

I've never seen the SU before. All the silver I ever found was only marked 925. I did find a beautiful gold filled floral pin early in my detecting career before I found Tnet. Learned a little about gold filled.
