Found more or less in a pile of rubble while cleaning out a house

Looks like a toy gun but no markings. Not sure if it's hand made or what. Any info would be lovely

Can you show a picture of the end grain on the butt stock end?
I’m guessing it’s been cut down; originally a longer “rifle” stock

Looks like a toy. Stuff a rubber ball down the barrel, pull back that bolt back a few inches, then when the trigger is pulled, the bolt would harmlessly launch the ball out the barrel.
