Not a medieval hammered, but its your first Roman Coin! (is it silver) Better pictures of both sides & Dad will ID. But at first glance it looks to be Carausius circa AD290.

PS. You may want to search more of this area, it's very rare to get 1 Roman Coin, you are close to your first site (most likely).

Very nice - Congratulations!! :occasion14:

Yes this was the same field as the last coin my mate found
It looks to be silver in places but has a very dark covering I'm not to sure how to clean this so have only used water and a toothbrush
Here is a pic of the back it's the best I could get but I can't make anything out hope this helps you

I think its Carausius with Pax reverse, similar to above. These are normally silver washed or Billion (silver & bronze). I can't be sure because of the photo.

But that field is becoming interesting, funny how I can remotely sniff out those Romans (several hundred miles away)!!! LOL

I'm not to sure if it's silver I can see bits of silver but most of it is a black dark green
Is there a test I can do without making a mess of it ???

Very nice, congratulations.

Congrats on your first Roman coin!

After turning the reverse pic 180 degrees, I can imagine eagle feet at the 5 o'clock position; part of my vivid imagination.
Don.......
