Hey guys,
new to the forum. Just picked up a White's TreasurePro about a month ago and have been hunting every chance I get. I finally found something that made my adrenaline pump. XaGhjo0.webp
cPKLic9.webp

The inside is stamped 14K with a 4 squares to the right of it (not exactly sure what that means).

HvHRKaa.webp

I brought it over to a pawn shop just to see what it was worth and the guy told me that only the outside (yellow gold) was 14k and the inside wasn't and showed me why (but that's a whole other story. I think he was trying to pull a fast one but I easily could be wrong).

Anyways! Happy hunting, all and thanks for looking!

If the ring was a solid gold 14K it would be gold in the inside also. You get what I am saying? It's more than likely it's plated. Great find though. The more you swing the coil the more treasure you will hear and dig.

White gold inside, yellow gold outside. If it ain't 24K, its an alloy!

Looks like yellow gold over white gold to me. Sweet find!

Welcome aboard TNet! Congratz on your first ring! Many more will follow! Happy Hunting!

Thanks, Loco! I was kinda hoping it was 14k white gold with 14k yellow gold outside. Is it common to stamp stainless or some other type of metal with the kind of gold that's on the outside? This is all new to me.

I am hoping that's what the ring is.

Thanks for the advice, bigfoot! That is officially on my list and a better pinpointer is as well. I'm currently seeing what's out there now. I bought a harbor freight one just cause I needed one right at the moment but it's already starting to act funny. Definitely getting a second opinion.

Yup. Yellow and white. GREAT RING!! What does she weight?! :)

Thanks, DFW! She ways 5.7 grams. I'm still learning the math on how to figure out its worth and what not.

The yellow part looks like gold, the white metal looks a tad weird, could be the picture quality though. What did the ring show up on the machine?

The white metal looks almost like its plated because of dark chips and bumps, that happens when the plate starts coming off of the base metal. But it could be just the picture quality. Either way, its a nice find my friend! Keep on digging!

Nice find, hope many more come your way.

nice ring!

There are websites that calculate gold weight and value. But you can do it this way too:

5.7 (gross weight) x .583 (gold purity)

3.32 grams of pure gold. 3.32 / 31.1 (number of grams in a troy ounce) to get what % of an ounce it weighs

.106 (or so, I'm rounding all over the place).

.106 x $1110 = $118.50 in gold assuming it's all gold, which it should be.

Congrats!

Fantastic find, and for a first ring, too! That's GREAT! Lots of folks are introduced to "First ring" with costume jewelry junker. This is MUCH better, and has no doubt given you the bug!

I started detecting in January of this year, and have now recovered 106 rings. 10 of them have been gold. Stay with it!
106 Rings! That's awesome. Yeah I think the MD Gods spoiled me with my first ring being gold. haha. Thank you!

The machine kept bouncing around between nickel/foil/gold. I usually dig everything for now since in my mind i can't take the risk. haha. I'm gonna have it tested else where and see what they say. Thank you :) Can't wait to get out today and do some hunting!

Nice find, hope many more come your way.

Thanks, RJ! Same to you!

Congrats on your first ring,,, looks gold to me

Thanks, against the wind! Gold is good :]

:headbang: You're the man! Thanks for breaking it down for me. I'm hoping to have to use this formula a lot in the future. :)

Assuming you're smartphone-equipped, the app you want to download is Gold Silver Calculator Free. The best for scrappin.
