Great stuff. The silver "blow hole" button goes back to about the French and Indian War, although they were used later.

Truth, the button was made by soldering the front to the back. The "blow holes" let the gasses escape when the button was soldered together. Mainly on pre 1770 sites, I have found a few on the 1777 Brandywine Battlefield, although a long time ago.

Nice hunt and cool button, congratulations on all

Congrats! All your finds are nice, especially the silver unit...I thought it might be an old blow-hole button but saw that Smokey did indeed verify it. Great stuff, thx for sharing, Ddf.
