Went to the city today and figured while I was there I would hit a few banks for some halves. First bank had none but had $20 in Ike's. Nothing in the Ike's. The next 2 banks had halves. One had $430 and the other had $400. When the tellers showed me the Brinks boxes they were in I had a peek at the rolls..... they looked like unopened Brinks rolls! Wish I would have looked a little closer. I don't know how they do it but the person opens the rolls very carefully, searches the halves and then puts them back in the rolls and even crimps them almost as good as Brinks! But like before all the rolls had the coins facing the same way in the rolls. So it looks like it's maybe the same person as a couple of weeks ago.... I got their dumps AGAIN :'( I think I know how far they go for coins now. I think I'll stay out of their territory ;) But they did miss one 69 and a 1776-1976 S proof. ;D

While I was in one of the banks above I had a call from my local bank.... my halves came in today, please pick them up by closing. The teller that usually orders them was on vacation last week so another teller ordered them for me. What a mistake that was! The teller brings out 2 very used Brinks boxes. She couldn't even open one up because it was covered in tape! The other box was full of hand rolls with the same address sticker on every roll! I asked her where she ordered them from and she mumbled something like Coin Counters Warehouse. I picked up another persons dumps! Holy crap am I mad! $1830 today all dumps! But I did pick up one silver and one proof :P

Darn Whyme....that bites! I feel for ya. Hopefully your next search will load your pockets full of silver. As a consolation....you obviously are a better CRh'er than he is because he missed the 69 and a proof.

Good luck and keep plugging......

BTW - Maybe you should dump those in his area.....ha!! :D

Sounds like some of the dump traps I have placed around to discourage people in my community.
But I do it in an even nastier way. I have a scale that I use to weigh them, open the silver, and put the light correct weight rolls back, so they are never opened, sure I miss proofs and NFICs but they are silver less. Including some hand rolls that I mark walkers or old or just date, and turn into banks that I know other CRHs go to. That way it gets them all exited and smashes there hopes to find a bunch of nasty clad. But ya gotta do something to keep competition down.

IF ordered boxes are coming in that way its hard to say how many or how deep they are. It may take a lot of ordering before you get some non searched, It could be just a few boxes out there. or as some banks send boxes back to the fed or the rolling companies there could be years worth of accumulation to go though thats nothing. If one bank keeps getting boxes they will send em back, then they just get stored and stacked and sent to other banks.

I have no idea how he missed the 69. He must not want proofs because this one was real shiny and you couldn't miss it! I'm going to the bank that orders my halves tomorrow and talk to the good teller..... she's back from vacation ;D

I can't dump there! It's to far and would cost mucho money in gas..... wait a minute..... maybe I will when my Prius gets delivered next week ;)

I seem to be the only one in my area that CRH's. It's when I go out of my area that I get dumps! I've only gone towards the city looking for banks. It seems like I now have to go further out in the boonies to find some nice hand rolled halves.

I've never gotten boxes like this before. The good teller orders them from Brinks but this teller ordered them from someplace else. I've never gotten a Brinks box with hand rolled in them before, always machine rolled. It was very weird :P

Cool,
Congrats on getting a Prius, They are great cars, and make CRH road trips dirt cheap at 45 to 52mpg

But be warned, the more weight you carry the milage goes down, if you have a few hundred pounds of halves the poor thing feels it MPG wise...but the 295lbs of Torque get ya started off with no problems no matter how much you carry!

JD-

I hope you're not missing any thin, old silver by relying on weight. I have picked out a lot of Walkers that weighed less than new clad.

Good point Tim, but if that's how JD wants to play it..........he's got to understand there are risks.

Yep I understand about mileage and weight. Got the call today..... I can pick up the Prius at 7pm ;D can't wait!

A couple tips:

1. Don't ever show disappointment in front of the person ordering the coins for you.

2. If a teller gets coins from the vault for you, don't ever reject them after seeing them (you never know if you will be back to that bank in the future and you don't want to burn a bridge).

I've had a simular experience in my area. I have figured out a pattern with my "nemesis". He/she doesn't CRH regularly. He/she orders the halves from a Wachovia that is close to a BOA. He then sits in the parking lot and goes thru the coins and freturns them to BOA. In this area Wachovia is right across the street from BOA a LOT of places. In fact I went into a BOA the other day and ask for halves. the tellers said "yes we have seaveral thousands dollars in halves, how much would you like"? I took $100 just to check the rolls. I could tell it was him by the way he rerolled them back up. I wasn't expecting to find his dumps there, but then I found a Wachovia just down the street that I didn't know was there.
