Took a bike ride to the swamp and found some small Exogyra fossils today. Exogyra is a extinct marine oyster. The shells are about 65 to 200 million years old.
I found two large fossilized Exogyra today. These two are the dinosaurs of extinct oysters. I put a quarter in-between them for a size comparison.
The one on the left is a complete exogyra with the upper and lower shell still intact. Which is a rare find considering the age. The one on the right has a nice patina showing the detail of the shell.
