Hi, I found these today with relichunters. We have definately located an iron patch in the woods. I dont think these are very old and my guess is one of those things you clean your boots on before you walk into a house and maybe a piece of a doorknob? Barber quarter shown just for size. Any ideas? Thanks.

I do think the second is a doorknob piece. However the top can't be a boot cleaner.. The J6062 is a model or number for something... Being Iron I wouldn't have a clue..... But it's in good condition!

Possible but why does it have spikes all around it on both sides? It's weird

to put on the fireplace floor. the spikes to keep the logs from rolling out. it would also keep logs elevated for air circulation for better burning.

I think it's part or all of a cast iron grill for an open flame stove. Monty

Sounds good I can see that happening. But it is very small about the size of a hand. So for a log to sit on something so much smaller. I dunno

thus the sharp points --and its being made of iron the log being round rested on the points -- sort of in a cradle

With the type of patterns on the points and also of the openings,it would appear to me as being part of a gas burning stove.
