This is the only whole Dovetail I have ever found, little did I know it lay about a 100 feet behind my bedpost. It's 4 1/2" and made of Carter Cave (from what I have been told). the material on this is difficult to ID, at least for me. I think it's HANEY CHERT because of the banding, but that is a close relative to Carter. It's from Clermont County, Ohio.

I'm envious! I have never found a dovetail and thats a beautiful example you have there. How did you find it so close to your "bedpost"?

That is an exceptional piece. For some odd reason, we dont find that many dovetail points in my area....a real shame that is.
