My wife found this rusty horseshoe with rectangular nails intact buried a few inches deep in our yard. Land used to be a farm or ranch. We are about 8 miles from the Alamo in San Antonio, TX.

Does anyone recognize the age of this shoe, or source?

Thanks.

I wouldn't have a clue as to age, but it's a cool find

8 miles,in what direction?,inside the 410 loop? My son goes to school at UTSA and I live in Austin, many times when I go to see him,I often think about bringing my detector.Happy Hunting.

It could be a horseshoe or a mule shoe (depending on shape, which could be changed due to being in the ground, or bent - can't tell). However, check the holes in it - one way to start aging it is to see if the nail holes are machine made, or hand punched.

Northeast of the Alamo, just outside 410.

I don't see any bending of the horshoe, and I have no idea whether the nails are machine or man made.
