Yeah, looks like its got a basal flute to me!! Nice point and material too. I dont really know what area your in, but if I found it around here, I'd call it some type of San Patrice point. They are generally 6000-8500 B.C. depending on which books your read. Perino considered them Late archaic, but in the feild guide to Stone artifacts of Texas, they are considered paleo. Dont really matter, same dates.. :icon_scratch:

wow! really think its that old?
Yeah, If your in E. Texas, Arakansas, Okla, Louisiana, Mississippi, yep, I think its that old. Didnt mean to call it "Late Archaic" I meant "Early Archaic"...Plainveiw, Dalton, Scottsbluff are all considered as Early Archaic....sorry for the typo.

Nice point. How big is it?
Randy

Do you have a picture of the other side? Remember, that in manufacture all points have to be thinned at the base also and sometimes overzealous thinning strikes can resemble an intentional flute. Where are you from?

sorry don't have a picture of the other side here at work but I can send you one. I am from n.e. alabama.
