✅ SOLVED Found this mystery item in a forest near some pioneer foundations in Illinois

Hi Everyone,

I found this mystery item near an old pioneer settlement (long gone) from the mid 1800s to about the 1930s in the suburban Chicago area (now forest preserves). No markings that I can see on it. Does anyone have any idea what it is? Thank-you in advance!

Perhaps the lid to an aluminum pot with the handle either broken off or rotted away as a wooden one may have done.

Added: It seems to have a relatively large lip, so maybe a teapot?

I'll second that, we always kept one on our wood stove when I was a kid just to keep a little humidity in the air.

Thanks, guys for the ID. So I can assume the coffee pot lid is from the latter part of the settlement which was 1920s and 1930s?

I don't think aluminum was prevalent before WW1. Good luck.
