Nice find , looks like it’s been in that river for a long time but still some nice flaking visible

I’m in Nashville, but haven’t went out yet around here. I found my first artifact last weekend in Princeton, KY so I want to go out more. Nice find !

Welcome from east/middle Tennessee! river patina and wear like that is great. i have a few spots that turn out a similar type of look. can't tell anything for certain on chert with the pics, could be fort payne. with that much patina and no fresh breaks it is hard to tell. does the bottom of it appear to have been broken? if so, it might be a broken tip of a point like terry mentioned. it almost looks like one of those bottom corners is worked though. if so, would make it a pretty large triangle. either from reworking a broken tip of a larger artifact or purpose made as is. great find and thanks for sharing.

Looks like a Woodland Triangle to me

I've had some great experiences in the past in Tn. Tellico Plains and also on the banks of the duck River. Like Tdog, I like the great lithics material.

Awesome piece that's treasure

Welcome from Mi also

that's a quarter for scale. it'd be a dime if it was woodland.

There are many types of Woodland triangles you should look and see. Late Woodland are tiny

If you take a very close look at what you think is the base in pics 1 and 4, you will see that the the beveled so called "base" is a result of the knife's tip breaking off. The basal area is beveled due to being snapped off with the grain of the material. That was a big knife at one time and not a triangle IMO.

Looks thinned out to me I have some big triangles found on Woodland sites. Not nearly as nice material as that one

Here's a few more pics. Hope this helps

Thanks bro. I think those new pics reinforce what I initially said. I'd say that it was fixed after it was broken and salvaged/repurposed. It was NOT a triangle at first.
