Found this today...any clues to what it is?..5 inches round..brass...has drilled shank for hanging or for a big wearing pendant..lol.....

I don't think the hole was for wearing or hanging? Looks more like a hinge for opening or closing. What does the back side look like, is it flat?

I agree with the hinge--could it be a door knocker since it was brass ?

Very unsure, but it looks like something made by Tiffany. Maybe a hinged handle grip off a fancy door.
