I believe you and 1digger got that right. If anyone here can read this and can figure out who it belongs to, I'll send it to the owner free of charge. I also found a class ring on this hunt. ID'd the girl and will have it back to her this week.

I found it just like in the pictures. Maybe it was a recent loss? The class ring was heavily tarnished and had been in the water three years.
