Hello all,

Please help me out... I have been to this old two-story log homestead, still standing and in great shape, four or five times now. This place looks like there should be buckets of old stuff... the problem is the trash. Tons of it. Every time I go all I find is nails and pieces of tin. I know the good stuff is there, but do I have to really dig everything? I bought a sniper coil for my Ace, but it still rings like noon in a clock factory if I don't descriminate the iron.

I have been contemplating a new Whites, but will that help me? I was thinking about the MXT...

Anyway, I found this today. This button is the only thing I've found there of any concern... I posted it in the button forum looking for an ID but that place sure is slooooow.

Maybe someone here knows their buttons... Can you give me an approximate date and where this would have came from. There is no writing that I can read on the back... It is a central MO find.

Thanks again and I really am glad I found t-net. I really enjoy daydreaming of a big find!!!

Great button !! don't give up on your machine , become 1 with it!!

Welcome aboard Saftegeek.

I have seen that button before. I think it is the same button that Montana Jim uses for his avatar. Although I cannot remember the specifics about it, I believe he found his in Montana. Could be wrong though, At least it is a starting point for you. Hope it helps.

I may be off base by saying this, but you have to dig the iron out to get to the good stuff. Who knows what you will find that is made of iron, could be horse shoes, old relics, or just junk. If one of the more experienced members could correct me if I am wrong, I would appreciate it.

You've got yourself Civil war Union Eagle Infantry button GREAT FIND for sure :headbang:
CONGRATS!!!

Try a Minelab Sovereign Elite it has an iron mask b uilt in but still finds the good stuff.

I agree that is surely an infantry button...there has to be much more there. Don't let the trash get you down!!!

Nice Civil War button!

If you focus on digging out and hauling off the Big Iron, you'll find more goodies.  The small iron will be there one way or another.

By the way... how long have you used your ACE 250, and what type of areas have you used it in?  I ask this because house sites are a Tough proving-ground.  They take practice to keep your skills up, and they require a different kind of research and a different hunting style.  Solid "coin signals" are frequently few and far between, and iron is usually plentiful...  I always say if you want a newbie to GIVE UP metal detecting, take 'em to a house site.
