✅ SOLVED Found under an old house in Northern California

It's made of steel, 8" long by 2" wide at the hook end. What I would call the handle end, fits nice enough for a secure grip. I carried it in my pocket most the day, so it feels like an easy to carry tool. Anyone know?

My guess would be a pot or lid lifter for use in fireplaces.

Wow what a beautiful looking piece of iron, the blacksmith who made that was a true artisan!

I don't think it's long enough to have been used over an open fire though, it's too small? :icon_scratch:

Just a thought... maybe contact the California Historical Society in San Francisco, they might be able to help with an I.D.
