Found Vermont 1787 Bust Left!

Condition is in really rough shape. I was advised to keep it moist and limit the cleaning? any other suggestions on how to gently clean? Unfortunatly I did manage to scratch it in the digging there was some other signals around it.

Warm peroxide bath ,sometimes I will rinse afterwards with water and take some baking soda toothpaste on my fingers and gentle rub the coin then rinse again .

Have you ID'ed the variety yet. I think that would be my first move before looking for cleaning suggestions... without posting a picture.
