Found vest navy button today.

Found a navy vest button little bit of gilt left it was found in Powhatan VA. And it was dug with at pro and the target was only 3 or 4 inches deep in old farm land.

Great looking button, found in my old neck of the woods. Please post a picture of the reverse for confirmation, however I suspect you've dug Navy 2 Piece, #112 in Albert book. If the benchmark is R&W Robinson/Extra Rich it is likely pre 1850- if not there were many post makers of that button up to 1941. Nice find

Sad part is the back is horrible and couldn't even see a single letter on the back I was told it was civil war period buy a highly accredited button collector at the confederate civil war show a fewhile months ago
