✅ SOLVED Found yesterday detecting in North Central Ma

Found at old home site thats on mid 1800s map,not sure how much earlier it was settled.Someone thought a gun part,believe its brass and heavy piece at 9 ounces...any thoughts?

Looks like a handle off something such as a wood stove door

It looks like metal that was seasoned, like a cast iron skillet is seasoned, so maybe from a cooking pan.

Did clean up a spot and is brass so fits the andiron for sure

Personally, I'd never known what it was either, But I've seen them I.D.'d on here in the past.
