Hey Treasurenetters!
It was 30some degrees in Baltimore today and a little windy but I dressed for the weather and ended up shooting alot of video because the finds kept coming. This was my fourth consecutive hunt at this city park with at least one Indian Head cent and today I dug four of the tribe; thus the title of this post "Four on the Fourth". Hunt was Friday, December 9th!
First target dug was a 1930 wheat, so a good start. Yes, I dug a number of square nails, but there were many good targets today. Broke the century barrier with an 1893 IHC. All of these targets came from searching either side of the slate walkway; though I covered ground that I'd been over times before, new coins emerged.
The main walkway has sub-surface slate that extends about two feet either side of the main path. It was over the sub-surface area that I got an 83 VDI and figured it would be a quarter but it turned out to be the silver ring!
During the course of searching signals there were the incidental finds of pottery pieces and a large swirled marble.
A curious find is what looks like a drawer pull, but I don't think that's what it is. There is raised relief detail on the stem. Any ideas?
So, my first cold hunt of the winter season, but the finds were "hot" and taking my gloves off to record the digs was welcome.
