- Minelab E-Trac w/sunray probe, Excelerator EQ2 coil
I tried the easement thing again and it paid off, hunted in front of where there used to be an old school, no just a bunch of apartments, and came up with 4 silver dimes. 1920 merc, 1944 merc, 1964D rosie and a 1956D rosie, brings the total for 2010 up to 85, only 15 shy of my goal of 100. They were all right next to the side walk around 6 to 8 inches down. For all you E-trac users and i would love to hear more input on this, but the 1920 merc was about 9 inches down, and only made a "THUMP" sound, as i swung the coil by it i didnt get any of the usual high tones only a THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, but the numbers were there, going off 19-45 18-44 ect....I even swung over it in all metal and got the same result, any time i hear that thump and the numbers jive i dig it.....found several silvers this year digging THUMPS and usually they are very deep or on edge very deep. With the 6 inch Excelerator coil that i was usuing today the merc mentioned above showed up on the depth meter as 12 inches, but i know that with the smaller coil in kind of screws up the depth gauge by a couple inches, but it was as deep as the probe on my sunray pinpointer, pretty deep for a small coil.
