I finally got my computer fixed so I can load photos now, so I'll be putting on a few posts of my finds for the past couple of months.

This is a Fracture Base Dove that came from the same site as the Thebes that I had restored, though in two separate fields about a hundred yards apart. Someone has went in and did about 15 or 16 separate excavations in these fields all along each ridge in each field. There are 10 spots in one field and 5 or 6 in the other(I can't remember for sure). All of the spots are about 50 feet long by 15 feet wide and about 18 inches deep. There are piles of dirt surrounding the ditches and the first time I stopped to look I found the Thebes, 3 other points, a Knife, and a killer Scraper plus tons of flint chips. The second time I went there I found this Dove. I'm waiting on some more rain so I can go back and hit it again.

This Dove is made of a bluish Coshocton Flint(though you can't tell from the pic) and is in near perfect condition. The tip looks damaged, but that's just from the resharpening and it is actually made that way. It is right at 3 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide at the shoulders. I've been told that Fracture Base Doves are the rarest of all Dovetail types and I know this is the first one I've ever found, so I was stoked about that.

I would have got so excited to see a good hunting spot, all ready dug, just waiting to be walked. Alls you can hear, when I find points is 'Woohoooo' can't see me for tall tobbacco, just 'Woohooo' every now & then. ::) Also me emerging from the tobbacco with a grin like a Cheshire cat. ;D the feeling is incredible, the high is addictive too. I love this hobby.

I agree GL, I got the itch too.
Sweet little point.

Molly.

Brother you have done really well this year. I feel really lucky to get one "NICE" point a year. That first Thebes from the river bank is killer too. That dove is nice. I would love to see some better pics of the material and flaking (hint, hint!). Just for fun here is another look at the Dove I found this year. I am going to try to get out one more time this year to see what is left in the water.
Chuck
