Thermal city and Lucky Strike come to mind.

Semi-precious gems will sit in the crease of the pan, but they're lighter than the gold, so you'll have to check sooner.

See if you can find a video or two on Youtube about the special technique they use to mine sapphires. I've done it. They have a screened box top to classify and stratify to sort by specific gravity, then a piece of foam rubber that they flop the washings on. Then, you look carefully at the stones that are on the foam rubber--sapphires look kind of like beach glass. They look different from the other stones. Once you learn the look, it's easier to pick them out. I got some nice sapphires that way. We dug our own dirt and then processed it.

These aren't the best, but they'll get you started.

There's other mechanized ways to get them as well:

Plus, some people use dredges with a sticky plate for diamonds.

All the best,

Lanny
