I was at barnes and noble reading coin and treasure hunting mags yesterday and I came across an add for a free sample bag of dirt (with gold in it) lol.. I ordered one and I am looking forward to it. I'll be happy if I get one minuscule flake of that sweet sweet gold ;D

Has anyone else done this before? The place I got it was felixpaydirt.com. You can print something off and send stamps there but I just called.

If anyone else wants to try with me, the number is 877-775-1120

Guaranteed free gold though.. he sprinkles gold in every package so he can guarantee there will be gold in it. Then whatever else is in the dirt is bonus :icon_thumleft:

Some of the more interesting things like this are gravel deposits from along the upper Missouri, where sapphires and other gems come out of the glacial deposits. As well some from the eastern US where emeralds are found.

They push the mix around, put it in bags or five gallon buckes and ship to you if you care to do a little home hunting of your own. These are not however seeded, they are the raw material. It simply seems that seeded lots would be something someone would do when by doing so guarantee that there would be a profit margin.

Hay Snowskate have you tried your hand panning any local dirt?
There is a creek west of Shirley and a little So. that runs through Funks Grove.
I got some there when I lived in rural rout McClean.
My land lady whom I rented from said there was the end of a glacier drift there.
Here family has farmed there since they came from Germany.
I lived there back when they built the car plant.

I Ordererd a sample Last year.

when it came there may have been a Teaspoon
of dirt in the bag I Got.

I Always lived by if you can't say anything Nice
Don't say anything.

I can say it was Free dirt.

wow Bumpstick I wasn't aware. That is about 20 min. from me though, and I will check it out. I have actually never panned before but I'm definitely interested in the potential of finding gold =)

lol Jeff, so there was no gold in there? Well, at least it was free :laughing7:

well i got my teaspoon of dirt, and there were 2 microscopic flakes of gold haha. Pretty much what I expected. Now I just need to order about 5,000 more free samples and I might have an oz

I just spent 1 month in a LDMA camp at Staton. 2 miles from Congress on route 89 then 6 miles down a gravel road till you get to rich hill. I metal detected and have found 5 small nuggets in three past Tripp's. The largest one 1 1/2 penny weight in size the other 4 just in the grains about 10 to 15 apiece, but this trip I have found no nuggets. I ran a high banker with a friend in Weaver Creek about 1/2 mile from rich hill. I worked 7 days of digging and running the dug gravels through a 1/2'' screen into a 5 gallon bucket 1/2 way. If you fill the bucket up it is to heavy to lift because of the black sand or (magnetite). Then you run the half buckets into the highbanker, and what goes into the highbanker has to be shoveled back out.The black sand and gold stays in the matting and collects under the ripples. After digging about 2 tons of gravels I pulled a muscle in my back, and by the end of the 7 days I was laid me up for 5 days. My Friend and I split 2 gram of gold for that week. There is alot more work to this storie but make a long story short there is no free gold.

I forgot to mention in my post all that work was in Arizona
