French Revolutionary War Naval Buttons

17mm & 24mm buttons I dug recently are probably my best finds to date.

I do not know much about them, if they are French or American design, rare or valuable, but to think that they were possibly worn by an officer in the French navy that aided in our countries independence from Britain is really cool.

Nice saves on the Rev War Naval buttons. They are in great condition.

Those are regular issue French navy buttons ca 1780-1782. I narrow that date although they were used earlier and later, due to your stated location - Philadelphia. Most likely they came through town with Rochambeau's forces to and from the battle of Yorktown, VA. Excellent saves.
