Fresh outa the dirt

Went over to a permission I have in south county today. I had picked up the two properties next to it so I thought I would make a day of it. Really didn’t find too much, my diggin buddy found a gold brooch and a very old pewter button, and some other crapola. I found a newsboy badge, something I didn’t know existed. Right after the badge I had a very scratchy high tone at about four inches. Out of the hole came a bent square nail, I rechecked the hole and out popped a beat up 1894-S Barber half dollar ( whooohooo) only my second one ever. I was surprised because I was just fartin’ around trying to kill the batteries in my ATmax before my buddy showed up. Anyway, not much else to talk about.

AJ, the guy who owns the tavern rescinded his permission, I was not happy. But we still found stuff. My buddy Liam found a very old pewter button near the campsite and a gold brooch. I also found the ass end of a weather vane amongst other large metal chunks.

Nice. Of course I like the Barber Half, they just don't happen much, would be a heart stopper coin for me, but the Newsboy Badge? WOW, I REALLY like that, like you, never knew they existed, that would of made my day, the 1/2 dollar? Icing on that tasty cake.
