One of my hunting buddies contacted me with a invite to hunt a very old spot he just received permission to hunt. Dug a couple of toasted large cents and a couple of buttons. Then it slowed down for a while. Then out of nowhere my friend jumps up and yells silver. I headed over to him and due to the age of the spot I didn't know what to expect. He had me remove the small silver coin from the plug ,and to my amazement it had a legible date of 1797! US draped bust silver , one of the best finds I have seen recovered. I was glad to see him get such a great coin . WTG MAN!! thumbnail.webpthumbnail (1).webp

Wow your friend made a find of a lifetime! Congrats to him

Nice to at least be there for the show and tell. That's one awesome save. Congrats to your buddy, atleast you got to hold it.

Wheeew.....I'd still be shaking after that recovery! Huge congrats to your pal!

Very Cool Find!!! What are friends for:hello2:

What a great day! Thanks for going bud! Great finds all around we absolutely killed! We will remember this day for a long long time!

That's a great find. There are not many of them still in existence. I found a 16 star 1797 Draped Bust dime 9 years ago. But it was badly worn.

WOW! Can't make it out, but how many stars? Could buy a brand new MD with that dime.

16 star

That's a Great find ! Low mintage coin for sure -this is a half dime right ? They only made like 44,000 of these ( Redbook )

Historic!! Big time Congrats to you both!

An amazing find, wow. So rare. Congrats.

What a coin! I would have had a stroke if I dug that!
