Went home to south-central PA for Thanksgiving. I heard stories for YEARS about a stone quarry used to build the first mill and several 18th century houses in the area. I decided to go find it.
Not hard to find, but well off the road and out of direct sight. It was used as a dump after the good stone was gone - up into the 1950's I think.
First thing I found was a 16 oz bottle with raised letters marked Frigid Fluid Co. Chicago. It is good condition and was almost totally exposed when I found it.
Did some research - Embalming fluid!!!
Also used as household poison... more likely.
Found a nice Listerine bottle with raised letters, too.
Next time, I'll do some digging.
