Well it has been a most memorable time digging in this yard. It has produced many great finds as you well know with the Double Eagle flask find. I think we finally hit the last privy in the yard which would make a total of 9 pits all together. Don and I started this journey a couple of weeks ago and as time permitted we finally got to the last one. No it did not produce another Eagle flask but we did turn up a few more keepers.
Don got it started with a Basketweave flask. I got in the game with an unusual fruit jar that still had the lid. Found a few broken things as well. The pit had well over 30 bricks tossed in that destroyed a few bottles
After the huge brick layer at around 6 feet deep we broke into the use layer and Don pulled out a nice blob beer. Our first intact one from all these pits. Then it was my turn as I dug just under where I was standing and unearthed another blob beer. Both had the same name on them. We did find a third but it was broke
We finished out the hole with several glass buttons, a Brookfield Insulator dated 1865-1870. So all in all we had one heck of a week or so of digging. I hope you all enjoyed the pictoral adventure that we had. Not sure if we will find another "Honey Hole" quite like this one but we will give it our best shot. I will have to get into more research of the area
and of course do a bunch of probing but sometimes that is the enjoyable part. Discovering new areas and finding a privy that might end up being the tomb of the next Double Eagle Flask! As usual there are a few pics here so I hope you enjoy them. Until next time be safe out there and goodluck to all on your next adventure!!! Jgas
