My kid and I smashed a dug 1980 cent that had a nice red patina. The smasher exposed bright copper in all the right places. I really like how it turned out!

That's pretty cool.

There is a niche segment of collectors that collect elongated cents. I do. I always ensure a copper is used. The zincoln comes out looking like crap. I collect the elongated cents from my travels, but also of my hometown of St. Augustine. There are many kiosks around town, but the collectible ones to me are the retired designs from decades ago.

that will be collectible later on lol

An old gentleman friend of mine that gave me tons of old foreign & US coins, also gave me a 1893-Worlds Fair elongated cent. Real sharp.

Got a photo? Hopefully it wasn’t an 1856 Flying Eagle that got smashed!! :tongue3:

Kindest regards,
Kantuck

I'll get it out and take pics, for show & tell of the 1893 W F
