Hi all, new to the Board. I started collecting silver coins and bullion about a year ago. Came across the CRH thing and decided to give it a try. Figure it is as close to free money as possible as I can do it during TV watching time. Decided I would only do halves. So I hit a few local banks, bought about $700 in halves (one box plus some misc.). Completely skunked on silver, got some decent proofs. I know this is not a lot of coinage to go through but I got frustrated and sort of let the hobby die away.

So I recently started a new job in a new area and was hitting a local bank for some other things and decided to ask if they had any CWR halves. They didn't but the teller asked me if I wanted a plastic bag of $17 of halves and two dollar coins. I said sure, and low an behold in the bag were two Eisenhower dollars (no silver), 2 90% 64s and 1 40%. Hooked again!

So now my expectation is that if I get 0.8713 ounces of silver per $17 searched, every box I buy should give me about 25 ounces of silver. Of course I am kidding about this but wouldn't it be nice. I know I am headed for skunkville a lot but those three tarnished coins (plus the Eisenhower bonus) have me fired up.

Nice score! It's pretty easy to get discouraged in this hobby. Those who stick with it develop a thick skin real fast. What makes it exciting is that you really never know what you will find. I got skunked on 16 of 22 boxes in December, hoping to finish the year strong. On a whim, I picked up some CWRs - scored 3 solid rolls of 90s, including my first Barber and 20 Walkers! You never know what you'll find. Just gotta stick with it and hope for a little luck.

Gonna be a good year!

Congrats, that is what helps you through all the skunks! HH and good luck!

There are so many empty apartments in Skunksville of people who just gave up and dropped out of the system. You have to have determination to get out the good way.

Welcome to the board!! I also started in Nov. and only started ordering boxes in Dec. The AG started out kinda slow in Dec. but I ended up having an excellent month!!! All I can say is don't give up and you will find the AG or it will find you. Lol

Keep up the hunt.

HH
