I have one exactly like that I found in the yard here in Middle TN. It's in my shed somewhere..My dad found this full groove stone axe head in Delaware Country, Pennsylvania while working in his garden many years ago. The Lennie Lenape tribe inhabited this area.
Now I gotta go find the one I found about 30 yrs ago. It had the groove all the way around and it was obvious what it was at the time.Full groove axes are the earliest type. Dating back to the early archaic around 7500 BC. Many millennia before your historic tribe came along. They could have accidentally found it and used it, but is was made by their distant ancestors.
I'll have you know you lite a fire under my ass and I went to shed IN THE RAIN. The last place I looked I found it and I had a flashback. I'll do another thread to show it soon today. This is Ed DE's thread. Carry on sir and thanks for posting and reminding me.... I had one also...!Start Digging Brad! I wanna see it bro...![]()
Thanks ToddsPoint, I never imagined that the axe could be that old.Full groove axes are the earliest type. Dating back to the early archaic around 7500 BC.
