Oh my goodness! I just got back from taking my neighbor kids to the new site. We had so much fun! The little girl has a No name detector (literally, I couldn’t find a name) with knobs and a gage 0-10. The first thing I noticed was her coil was backwards so I twisted the shaft . She said she didn’t even know so it’s hard to say how long she has been using it like that. I showed her a little of what I know about the sensitivity and discrimination and set it to all metal mode. I let her little brother use one of my grandson’s toy detector. We all worked together on the first target. It was a nut. Then, I kinda let them do the hunting and I did the digging. We all shared the pin pointer. Next time I will bring my spares. The kids were having fun and I went off on my own to hopefully find a good, non iron , target. I did. It was ringing up 40-45. I dug and it popped up. So I hollered out to the young lady who was using the pinpointer, “Hurry up and find that target. I think I have something.” The little dude started running over, so I told him to get the pinpointer. Really didn’t need it. I just wanted them to both come over and be a part of finding something other than rusty nails. It was this thimble and he spied it before he turned on the pp. lol

He was not impressed and he ran back to his toy. Here’s a pic of it:

Within seconds of him getting back to the hunt , he yells. “ Hey! Look what I found and I didn’t have to dig!” He comes running and hands me this crotal bell!

I gave him high five and told him he found the best find of the day and told him what it was. We then grabbed our stuff and rode over to the farmer’s house and showed off our finds to him and his wife and thanked them for letting us hunt. Then I drove them home and took our pics. I cleaned out as much dirt as I could and discovered the ringer is still in there. Yay! Now how does mom clean it the rest of the way?

I am not sure who had more fun, me or the kids. It was a Funday Sunday for us.

Oh, and this is what I dug on my own farm yesterday. Not worthy of its own thread. Lol

So jealous of the crotal bell! I hope the little guy appreciates it! 😄. Looks like you all had a fun day!

You and me both! I told his dad that I have been detecting for 5 years now and even have a $700 machine and haven’t found a whole one. Thank you for posting Lenrac2. 😌

Newbie luck getting a bell before you.
If it has an iron rivet looking spot on top it's an early jiggle bell.
Crotal bells had a loop, hung from the neck of the animal.
A jingles was on a strap with other ones.
Sounds like you had a great day WD

Ya know what, Pepperj? I was calling them jingle bells and sleigh bells before I joined the site. Guess I got confused. 🤪 Thanks for the clarification. I will try to get a pic.

Jingle/sleigh/crotal....
Don't matter WD
All I know is when you finally find one whole, it rings your bell.😊
