Here are 3 I’ve found that are in good shape. Creeks can put a lot of wear and tear on these types especially the pottery ones. I get lucky on finding maybe 1 every couple of years. The stone one is greenstone it has the tiny dimple facing up the other side is completely flat. The pottery ones are cool one side is red and the other side black. The black side has the dimple on them. I have one black showing and the other red is showing. Most of the times these are broken. Once at a show I saw a guy selling them for cheap I should of bought some but I didn’t know what they were.

I believe these date the same as the Guntersville points. Just going by the points I found at the time.

Those are cool, never found any. I found 5 game stones at the same time at a site in Florida years ago (the only cache I ever found). I wish I still had them to show.

Those are def not things we find around here. Very few spots here that are that late, so I would guess you're right on the time frame. What were the games they played with those? Look like poker chips. BTW they're cool as crap, def would've picked them up to.

Not sure on the game but I’m sure it was for gambling or something like that. The stone one is very interesting cause 99% of them are pottery. All 3 found in 3 different places but in one county Bartow Georgia. I keep them in frames. Thanks

Very cool I was expecting more balls, didn’t know they came in discs like that. Kind of funny how the game stones have showed up on t-net all of a sudden. Great thing to really round out a collection, shows a different facet of na lives.

I’ve found others made from pottery but I had a friend that loves pottery so I let her have them. I’m keeping the rest I find seeing they just don’t pop up everywhere or every day. Thanks for the interest

There is a big write up about the disc styles on the Peach State Archeology site if you care to read about them. I read most of it. They said even though I found mine in a Mississippian area the disc have been found from the Woodland period from broken pots and reworked later in time to the disc. It was quite interesting. Here is the 1st page. There is many examples and descriptions.

Thanks for that article. It adds a little more to the story.

I would of liked to see them what type of game stones were they?

They were like marbles; all were around 3/4 inches and a light smokey grey color. I found another with them; it was smaller and it had a dip in it. That one looked like it could of been used to shape them.

Sounds interesting I might have to post another I’ve found to see if it’s anything like you are describing. It’s my best one and has a high polish on it. Maybe tomorrow
