I found this a couple of months ago and to be honest nearly forgot about it. My six old actually picked up and thought it looked like a game piece and I talked to him about NA playing games and one I heard about was chunky (didn't say much to him about that because really have new clue if that game was really played). We did find it on a campsite that has produced an axe, broken banners, and several points however on this day we were left with this and a few flakes. Is it something or does the shape just have my imagination. The last two pics I put a little Vaseline on it - I think it's been peaked away but just need more experienced eyes on it.

Thanks for your looks and opinions in advance.

Your opinion matters I might disagree on some of your posts but I am not a shallow person to say someones opinions don't matter. We share a passion I respect that. Thanks for response.

Looks like it might be a variation on the cones I've seen. Now whether it was made that way or found by the Indians and used is another thing. They may have found it elsewhere, brought it home and saved themselves a lot of pecking, grinding and polishing. No way to say for sure, but finding it on a site that is producing artifacts would lead me to believe that it is one as well.

That is a cone & a very nice one I have one cone in my collection but mine is made out of hematite!

If I found that on a site in Indiana or Ohio it would be hard to convince me that it wasn't a cone/loaf. Not sure if they are found in Maryland, but I've seen several from Virginia.

Do you find any Adena points on the site?

Closest site that I am aware of is about 45 miles away. To my knowledge there was not a prolific Adena culture but there is one well documented example.

Was found along campsite on the Susquehanna River - trade did occur with the Shawnee and Ohio... it just looked curious to me. Thanks for comments.

It looks burnished. I'm certainly no expert though.

Mogi, in the photo of the game pieces you have, what is the material on the lower left stone? I found one similar but I couldn't tell if it was quartz or clay. I'll repost the pic.

I thought cone to. Nice piece
