Hello Bill,

Nice group! Most of the ones with red on one side and another color on the other are vitro all-reds. I think the darker ones with clear colored glass are vacors. Most are probably 1980s or so. They are collectible but not high dollar. The cateyes are nice marble king or vitro 4-vanes I think. The purple is a popular color among collectors.

Thanks for the comments Cheese. D:

If you have the time can you take a few close up shots of the top rite group. I am very new; but they just look interesting to me.

Good catch Moxie, looks like there might be a group of old ones up there. Maybe a pelt ketchup and mustard?

I will as soon as I get home and I bought another jar full and older.

I'm not into marbles much but always had a bag when I was a kid. It's just there is a garage sale week end, in my small town, which has some history. I only go on this one and always find something cool. I admit I bought one jar of marbles a year for the last 3 years :D I really like marbles but I'm too lazy to learn all the subtilities and my time is more on detecting lately. Well we never know...

Hey Moxie, I finally made a few close ups, hope is the one you asked for...

Thanks for taking the time to take the pic - I could look at marbles all day (mine or not!!) Hopefully Cheese will hop on later and can give you some idea as to what you have. I really like that swirl in pic 2, 3rd from the left! I could have sworn I saw a Peltier in that group shot; but none here so it just must have been the angle of the pic.

Maybe I didn't get it out of the jar. I'll check later but can't for now.

Wow, this really brings back some memories! I had a decent collection of marbles when I was a kid that I kept in a coffee tin. Haven't thought of them in ages! My favorite was a big black one that sort of looked like deep space but I was always afraid to play it against other marbles for fear of losing it. The collection's long gone now but I can't think for the life of me of what I did with them. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Those last pics include some of old American marbles from the 1940s or so and up. Looks like the white ones with colored swirls are mostly Alleys and a Champion with the wider colored ribbons.

Thanks Cheese. Keeping my eyes peeled. 😊
