Solved. Garment or strap hardware? SOLVED!

Have had a few Victorian Era finds in these woods previously. Part of fabric still attached to the large piece. Initials A.P stamped on small piece. Any clue as to purpose and age of this hardware? Thank you!!

Digging440years is correct, they are suspenders-buckles. Here is their specific identification:
Both of yours are from a single set of Guyot's Patent suspenders. That type was invented and patented in France by Charles Guyot in the late-1800s, and imported into the US in large quantities during the early-1900s. Here's a 1907 advertisement for Guyot suspenders from a Philadelphia PA clothing store. They were extremely popluar... the ad says "Annual sales over 2,000,000 pairs."

You may need to use T-Net's "enlarge the image" option to see your exact suspenders-buckles in the middle of the wide straps and at the end where the narrow straps join the wide straps.

I'll also include a French advertising poster for Guyot suspenders.
