I am going through my previous finds and noticed this button. it is 2 piece, copper alloy and large, 1" (25.4mm) diameter. I think I can see at least 2 figures with a small crown between them. I'd guess it's a decorative coat button and not military. I expect there is someone much better informed than I am who can provide more insight into its origin and use. Lots of my finds are in the late 1700 to about 1860 period and this perhaps could fit into the latter part of that era?

Your button is definitely a Military button... a 20th-Century British Army General Service uniform button, issued from 1902-1952.
