Hi, while I'm not a stranger to treasure hunting, I am new to metal detecting. My Mom let me borrow her's that she got at a garage sale. Is the Garret Ghost Town Hunter a pretty old machine? I'm sure it works good as I've found stuff pretty deep in the ground. Like 10 inches, (damn can slaw. :) )
I just sort of wondered what vintage it is.
I have dug tons of trash with it, like pull tabs and bottle caps.
What's wierd is I dug a bunch of clad that was only 2 years old in my front yard and it was at least 8 inches down. How does that happen? I've lived at the same house for longer than that and I know there wasn't any dirt work done to explain it. We do live in a flood plane, (my house is built up 8 cinder blocks high). Would that have something to do with it? The coins I found were most likely a pocket spill from me as it was in exactly the same spot where I open my car door to get out when I park in the yard.
Thanks. Josh.

...JOSH....Can you post some Pic's ........I belive that Garrett made a TR (Transmitter Receiver) version and also a BFO (Beat Frequency Oscillation) version of the Ghost Towner......probably from the early to mid 1970's.....either one are good ghost town hunting detectors......since both versions are pre-discriminators they do not have the problem of Nulling Out over trash......Joe
