It's likely Keppy is on the right track. I put a quarter between the cap and the battery to increase the pressure on the contacts and have had no trouble since.

Same problem with mine.. Its not the battery but some problem with the insides. So far I am not a fan of the Garrett products totally wish I went with whites or fisher.

I've had to put a quarter between the cap and the base of the battery on two Garrett PPs for that problem. Haven't had any problems since.

Thanks for the quarter tip I keep changing batteries like I leave it on or something.
Yes all my gear is out of warranty.
