Has anyone used the Garrett AT Pro in salt water?? we are going to daytona beach area for a week around the end of march..and wanted to no if it can handle the saltwater
for a week...also have a viper trident hybrid. but dont have the room to pack both of them..Any input would be appreciated....Thanks Brian

Quite a few people use the AT Pro in salt water, myself included. Try not to let big waves crash into it and rinse it off after every hunt, also if you don't have the waterproof headphones just keep you're head above water.

It will work... The key is ground balance. Ground balance in the dry sand, again in the wet sand and AGAIN in the water. You may also want to manually adjust the ground balance down a notch or two and decease sensitivity a little to increase stability.

Thanks for the replies i will take it to the beach then...read some reviews stating it would ruin the connections..but it will only be in the salt water for 1 week

Lube up the O-rings on the coil and headphone connectors and put some dielectric grease on the terminals. Wash it off after you finish, it should be fine.

Also make sure that the o ring and sealing areas are clean, one grain of sand can spoil your trip. HH
